Champions of Europe

It has a nice ring to it.

Liverpool - Champions of Europe.

Come May 25th, this will come true.

I have to talk to losers who tell me how lucky we were to go through. You don't depend on luck to play 4 matches without losing and overcoming both Juventus and Chelsea.

I have to talk to losers whose clubs didn't even make it to the quarter-finals.

I have to talk to losers whose vision is limited to past performance and big players.

This isn't Championship Manager.

This is Anfield.

I can't claim to know what these 3 words fully mean. But it's about spirit, passion, tradition and goose bumps. Many of these losers will never find these in their clubs.

Sure, they can be lucky enough to find a rare talent like Henry or a rich billionaire like Abramovich. But money cannot buy the best fans in the world. Money cannot buy tradition. And lucky do not make you Champions of Europe 4 times.

Come May 25th 2005, it will be 5 times.

Oh, by the way, money don't buy you a Carragher.
